Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce is hosting an event for non-members on October 9 which will feature some expert advice on the potential implications for businesses of new equality legislation. Leading Advocate Caren Pegg, who is a Partner at Appleby specialising in employment, litigation and insolvency, will give her expert insight to guests at the event which will be held in Chamber’s offices at Athol House, Athol Street, Douglas, from 5pm to 6.30pm. It will also provide an excellent opportunity to find out more about the benefits of Chamber membership.
Jane Dellar, Chief Executive of the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce, said:
“The Isle of Man Equality Bill is currently at the consultation stage. We have already hosted an excellent CPD seminar on this subject for members, but we are determined to ensure that all local businesses are aware of the potential impact of any new legislation. Caren Pegg is Chair of Chamber’s Employment and Training Committee, and a member of the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce Council. She has also been named as a leader in her field by Chambers Europe every year from 2008 to 2013 and is widely regarded as one of the leading employment practitioners in the market. Her achievements perfectly illustrate the calibre of our membership and the individuals who chair our eight sector committees which cover ICT and eBusiness, retail, finance, manufacturing and technical industries, tourism, construction, transport, and employment and training. Gaining access to this level and diversity of expertise is just one example of the many benefits of Chamber membership. In addition to gaining an insight into the potential impact of new equality legislation, the event on October 9 will also be an ideal opportunity for us to explain to non-members the full range of benefits which they can gain from joining the Island’s biggest business network.”
Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce provides a forum for more effective resolution of common business issues, and gives a powerful collective voice for business which is respected by Government. Other benefits of Chamber membership include:
• Being part of a business community whose members work for the common good through networking and sharing best practice;
• A discount on Certificates of Origin for exporting;
• Access to the global network of Chambers of Commerce which provides international business development contacts and opportunities;
• Increased internet visibility for your business via Isle of Man Chamber’s member directory at www.iomchamber.org.im/public/member-directory.aspx
• Raising the profile of your business;
