Almost there!! The re-surfaced courts are painted and the lines will be down today (Wednesday). The surface has to be left for a few days and will be available to members as from next Tuesday morning. Members are asked to observe the court care rules that will be fixed to the court gates. The re-surfacing has been an expensive project and now it’s up to every member to take care by removing leaves, having proper footwear, NO cans of drink, NO chewing gum, only drinks in sealed bottles on court. The committee appreciate members being patient whilst the work was carried out by UK specialist Fosse Contracts and hope that you will all be pleased with the porous, cushioned acrylic surface and the change of colour. We have had to accept loans offered by members, which we want to re-pay asap, so there will be fund-raising events ie A Night at the Races on Friday 7 November. This event needs at least 9 race sponsors at ?50 a go, so if you know a company or individual that would do this please let me or Kirsten Hall (391961) know and we will be looking for raffle prizes. Last year this event raised ?1,800 and we are hoping to better that. Also if any member – male or female would like to organise a Coffee Morning plus tennis let Kirsten or me know.
The club has several bags of 20 used tennis balls suitable for dogs and dog training – price ?5. Contact 861497. Still some boys tennis kit for sale – ages 9/10 – 13/14 – very good quality.
