CIRCA scheme builds bridge between young and old

An Island charity has praised its growing number of young volunteers for helping improve quality of life for elderly residents.
CIRCA based in Douglas co ordinates a huge army of volunteers, matching those with time to spare with charities and other groups in need of extra pairs of hands.
Earlier this month CIRCA's volunteer list passed the 1000 mark.
The organisation says young people have done the community great service, befriending many lonely elderly people, who enjoy their company.
Centre manager Kerry Bell says the scheme pays dividends all round:
