Awards excitement at Isle of Man Film Festival

by isleofman.com 14th September 2014

International entries will be screened alongside Manx-made productions at the final event of the 2014 Isle of Man Film Festival.
The International Film Competition will see a diverse range of short films judged by a panel chaired by film critic Mark Kermode.
A free screening takes place at the Broadway cinema Sunday morning (1100, 14 Sept) and will be followed in the afternoon by a red carpet awards ceremony, with honours up for grabs in a number of categories including Island Life.
During the festival Amma Asante, director of the acclaimed film Belle, which was partly shot in the Island in 2012, attended a special screening of the movie.
Mark Kermode's band The Dodge Brothers presented their Silent Cinema performance, a live soundtrack to Beggars of Life.
A unique event saw a programme of nine short films from around the world screened in three small cinema locations around the Island, simultaneously.
Afterwards, audiences shared views on what they'd seen.
The idea went down well with those at the Bath & Bottle Speakeasy cinema in Douglas:
