Ramsey Golf Club Championship report

by isleofman.com 9th September 2014

Conditions were excellent for Ramsey’s Club Championship held last weekend. The sun shone, the wind remained on vacation and the rain found another site over which to discharge its payload.

Making light work on a course that has played ever more difficult by the week, it was that gallant young fellow Jamie Arniel who took top honours on both days, carding a gross 70 on the Saturday and a 72 on the Sunday for a combined 142. Deservedly, he took the title of Club Champion, and the goodies that went with it. Nick Dutnall took second spot with a very respectable144, whilst David Kinrade claimed third with 147.

The net competition for us lesser mortals was also held over the two days and it was Jonny Cowley who took the glory. His 65 was enough to claim first spot on day one, with his 66 laying claim to third on day two for a combined 131. Connor Grant grabbed a hold of second with a two-day net of 133, having shot an excellent gross 72 on the second day for a net 60! Losing out on back nine countback and being pushed to third was Nick Dutnall, who also carding a net 133.

Young Ramsey Ball won the Ramsey Trawlerman sponsored junior champs with a gross 89, with Jamie Garrett laying claim to second over Nick White by virtue of a better back nine on their scores of 96. Not content with second in the gross stakes, Garrett also claimed top spot in the net prizes with 78.

Finally, a reminder that our monthly prize presentation is to be held on Saturday 13th at 8.00pm, swiftly followed by the Captain’s social evening. The more the merrier, so lets see you there.
