Vote, vote, vote for Junior Achievement

by isleofman.com 4th September 2014

Junior Achievement Isle of Man needs your vote.

The charity’s among more than 1400 good causes across the Isle of Man, England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands short-listed to receive awards of ?3,000, ?2,000, ?1,000 or ?500 from Lloyds Bank’s community fund.

Earlier this year more than 6,000 community groups applied to be part of the bank’s 2014 community fund following nominations by members of the public.

During June Lloyds Banking Group colleagues short-listed 1,632 of the good causes into more than 400 communities.

Each local cause will be awarded funding depending on the number of votes it receives. The one with the most votes will get ?3,000, the next ?2,000, ?1,000 and finally, ?500.

Junior Achievement’s chief executive Sue Cook: ‘As we embark on a new academic year we’ll be working with more than 5000 secondary school students, providing them with hands-on learning experience at no cost to the schools and reaching more young people per head of population than any other country in Europe. All of this costs around ?300,000 a year, so raising money through sponsorships and public donations is vitally important to us.

‘We were therefore delighted to learn Junior Achievement had become eligible for a Lloyds Bank community fund award. The people of the Isle of Man are unfailingly generous in their support of Junior Achievement, as the fantastic sums of money raised through our events in the past have shown. So please vote, vote, vote for Junior Achievement and help us continue our work preparing young people for life in the workplace in an increasingly competitive jobs market.’

Help determine the value of the award Junior Achievement will receive. Cast your vote NOW online at https://lly-cf.com/KPC or via the SMS or Twitter code KPC.

Voting closes on October 10th.
