The Overtones: Over here…again

by isleofman.com 3rd September 2014

The Villa Marina’s Royal Hall is in for a right royal occasion – the return of the irredeemably slick and stylish Overtones on Saturday October 18th.

Once again the show - a celebration of spirits-lifting songs and routines that defy you not to get up and dance in the aisles - is in aid of Junior Achievement and this year is being sponsored by Friends Provident International.

The boys - Darren, Lachie, Mark, Mike and Timmy - first wowed the Isle of Man last year when they acquired a whole new fan club of admirers who appreciated their not inconsiderable charm, good looks, immaculate voices and harmonies in a concert that generated a welcome boost to Junior Achievement’s funds…and a database of people desperate to be at their next concert.

The show will include numbers from their album Saturday Night at the Movies to make this Saturday night at the Villa a foot-stompingly memorable occasion. Or, as The Overtones’ Lachie Chapman says: ‘You'll know by now that by the end of one of our shows we make sure everyone is up dancing and the Saturday Night at the Movies tour will do exactly that.’

Friends Provident International’s general manager Caroline Cornish said: ‘Junior Achievement do some great extra curricular work with students on the island, equipping them with life and work place skills, which I know is greatly valued by both businesses and schools. We are delighted to be sponsoring The Overtones concert this year and it is set to be a fantastic night for all age groups.’

Junior Achievement chief executive Sue Cook added: ‘When The Overtones performed here last year they raised the roof…and expectations that they’d return, so we’re thrilled they’re coming back and also extremely grateful to Friends Provident International for sponsoring what we know will be the ultimate feel-good show.’

Tickets for the show on Saturday October 18th are from ?29.58 and available from the Villa Marina box office. Telephone 600555 or visit www.villagaiety.com.
