Boal & Co strengthens with 3 new appointments

by isleofman.com 3rd September 2014

Boal & Co is strengthening its team with three new appointments as the company looks to build on significant growth during 2014.

As the company approaches its 20th anniversary at the turn of the year, Managing Director Gary Boal says the new recruits will add considerable strength and depth, and play a major role in absorbing the client growth across the business.

Peter Craddock FCA is a chartered accountant with more than 20 years’ experience in the Isle of Man insurance sector. Having joined Boal & Co as a Senior Consultant in May, Peter has now been promoted to the board of Boal & Co (Pensions) Ltd, the company’s IPA-regulated pensions subsidiary.

Peter said ‘I am delighted to have the opportunity to join the board of Boal & Co (Pensions) Limited. The business has grown significantly in recent years, and there are some very exciting developments coming up in the near future. Boal & Co has a well-deserved reputation for professionalism and service, and it was a very easy decision to join the team here.  I’m excited by the potential and opportunities for growth, and am looking forward to contributing to the future development of the company.’

Educated at St Ninian’s High School, Danny Winrow MSc ACA is a chartered accountant who is also on course to qualify as an actuary within the next year. Having qualified as an accountant with Deloitte Isle of Man, Danny spent three years with a life insurer in the UK before returning to the Island to join Boal & Co’s actuarial consultancy team in August.

Ray Frampton BSc is another addition to the Boal & Co actuarial team, having recently graduated with first class honours in Actuarial Science and Mathematics from University of Manchester.

In addition to the three new appointments, Boal & Co has two new interns arriving next month from Queen’s University, the sixth year running the company has taken placement students from the university for the third year of their four-year degree course.

Gary Boal said: ‘This year is turning out to be hugely significant one for Boal & Co. Our pensions business has again expanded remarkably, and with these new appointments, we now have a 25-strong in-house team, which is a milestone we set out to achieve when we moved to new premises in the Isle of Man Business Park five years ago. At that time we employed a team of 12 and the further development of the business is a tribute to everyone who has played a part over the last five years.

‘It’s particularly pleasing to have reached this stage with our 20th anniversary fast approaching at the turn of the year. We have grown consistently at more than 20% per annum for the last five years.  Spectacular new business this year means we are well positioned to continue to expand and create even more jobs – both locally and overseas - in the years ahead.’

Director Mark Kiernan added: ‘Although we now provide international pension plan solutions to 14 Financial Times “Global 500” companies, we will not be resting on our laurels.  Many more opportunities remain in both the pensions and life assurance consulting sectors, and we are committed to further growth as new business continues to come in from around the world.

‘We are delighted to welcome Peter to our senior team, where his experience is a real attribute. We are also excited to have Danny and Ray join our actuarial team which will be kept very busy supporting our pensions and insurance operations, not least in insurance consulting as the Island develops fundamental changes to the long-standing financial regulatory framework. We are very well placed to work with Isle of Man insurers on planning for, and adapting to, the emerging “Solvency II” framework.’
