by isleofman.com 2nd September 2014

A robber left a woman with minor injuries in a struggle in which he stole her handbag.

He got away with personal items and ?5,000 in cash after the attack in a service lane at the back of the Rosemount pub in Douglas yesterday (Monday) at about 2.30pm.

Police have described him as a white man in his early to mid-twenties, between 5'6" to 5'8" tall, with a dark stubble beard, wearing a black hooded top.

A police spokesman said: 'Police have made a search of the immediate area but also ask residents within the surrounding area to check their bins, gardens and yards for any potentially discarded items. The handbag taken is a medium sized black imitation leather handbag with two shoulder straps. Police would also like people to get in touch if they know of anyone who has come into a large amount of cash since the crime or know of anyone in financial difficulties who may have been desperate to commit such an act.'
