Svetlana Cameron has been selected for DRAW 14, the 93rd annual open exhibition of the Society of Graphic Fine Art (SGFA). The exhibition, which will run from October 6th to 18th at the Menier Gallery in London, will be officially opened at a private view on October 7th by Andrew Marr - journalist, broadcaster, drawing enthusiast and presenter of the BBC's Andrew Marr Show and will have as its optional theme ‘Remembrance’.
The SGFA is the only national art society dedicated exclusively to drawing. This year’s exhibition attracted submissions from artists across the UK. 227 works of art by both members and non-members made the final selection. Traditional and contemporary drawing techniques will be on display in a wide range of sizes and media: from egg tempera and aquatint to charcoal and sgraffito. Society members will give free talks and demonstrations during the exhibition.
Mrs Cameron, who works out of her studio in Braddan, is an internationally acclaimed portrait artist working in the style of classical realism. Her works have received accolades in many prestigious art contests around the world, including the ARC International Salon and The Strokes of Genius competitions in the USA, and the RBSA Portrait Prize UK and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters’ annual exhibition.
She is currently working towards her solo exhibition, which will be her contribution to the Island of Culture programme of events. The show will run from October 31st to November 24th at the Sayle Gallery and will be sponsored by SMP Partners.
