After a blistering start, the end of summer was unseasonably cold and windy.
The Met Office says August was the first month since last November that had colder than usual temperatures.
The average was 14.7 celcius, half a degree lower than normal, with only August 6th seeing the thermometer top 20 degrees.
The average wind speed was 14.8 mph compared with the long term mean of 11.3, making it the third windiest August on record.
There was also much more rain than is typical for August, with 78mm recorded at the aiport, 27 per cent more than normal.
It wasn’t all bad news though, there were 200 hours of bright sunshine, slightly above the August mean of 185.6hours.
The sunniest day was the 7th with 13.4 hours.
There was no hail, thunder or fog observed at Ronaldsway during the month.
