A group of 16 RL360 Isle of Man riders made the trip over to Scarborough at the weekend to compete in the eighth and final round of British Cycling's National Youth Circuit Series.
Each and every one of the riders acquitted themselves admirably over the very tough ‘Oliver’s Mount Race Track’, course with all but the very youngest having to endure the particularly steep ascent(s) of ‘the climb’ on the long circuit.
Highlights of the weekend included; a debut fourth place for Drystan Sewell in the under-eights – having just missed a podium by a tyre width in a photo finish; second place for Zachary Walker in the under-tens – where he and the eventual winner Joshua Tarling of West Wales rode away from the field
Among the older riders there was a very strong fourth place for Owen Dudley in the very competitive under-16 category, which had a big field of over 110 riders.
There was a first place for William Draper in the under-14 age category following a well marked race where he covered the breaks, marked the strong climbers over the hill and finished with a superbly timed sprint up the long 800m finishing straight to take the win by five metres.
