The Council of Ministers has given the go-ahead for a huge new motor museum in the north of the Island.

The plans, submitted by Denis and Darren Cunningham of Kirk Michael, would see a 5,800 square metre facility built on the airfield.

In their application, the pair say there would be exhibition space for cars, motorbikes, trucks, fire engines and buses from around the world.

The plans also include a maintenance facility, coffee shop, gift shop and offices.
The site is owned by the Department of Infrastructure and so ministers were asked to make a decision on the application.
In supporting documents, the Cunninghams say they would open the Isle of Man Motor Museum Thursday to Friday during the tourist season, and daily during TT and the Festival of Motorcycling.
They hope to attract 30,000 visitors a year and say the museum is ideally situated for those taking part in track days and other special events in Jurby.
