Rider dies during Senior Grand Prix

The Manx Motor Cycle Club says a rider was killed during today's Senior Manx Grand Prix

Gary Firth from Barnsley in Yorkshire died in an incident at the 11th Milestone at around 1.45pm which involved three riders.

50 year old Mr Firth was a newcomer, who finished in 34th place during the Newcomers A Race earlier this week.

He recorded his fastest lap of 102.282mph in today's race.

Following his death, the race was immediately red flagged.

The Coroner of Inquests has been informed and an investigation into the circumstances of the accident is underway.
