Douglas based bar and brasserie, Coast, has announced the appointment of Marie Danby to the position of General Manager in a move which completes the next stage in the establishment’s development strategy.
Ms Danby joins the Coast team with 10 years’ experience in retail and hospitality management, including three years working in a senior role for the world famous tea rooms Betty’s and Taylors Ltd., the company which also owns Yorkshire Tea. Here, Marie took charge of business development for the firm’s flagship Harrogate branch, placing a particular focus upon growing the company’s online presence through social media marketing. Ms Danby was also responsible for product development, including a series of menu additions and a special edition Tour de France menu. Prior to this, Ms Danby spent a number of years in management roles at a range of private restaurants in the UK and also within the retail sector as the ladies’ wear manager for the UK for Hugo Boss, primarily focusing on corporate and VIP service.
Commenting on her appointment, Ms Danby said: “My new role at Coast is very exciting. The establishment already enjoys a great reputation, but there’s always enormous potential to drive the guest experience forward and win more awards. I’ve already taken an active role in implementing this change, first through social media, with plans to later expand our menu and cocktail menu range. I’ve also taken some inspiration from past positions to introduce a number of Coast special experiences, including the exciting addition of a premium afternoon tea and a four-course table d’hotel evening menu. I have an endless amount of new ideas and I’m more than confident in the abilities of the excellent team here to take Coast to new heights.”
