Five-star Geordies too strong for Saints

by isleofman.com 27th August 2014
St George’s displayed the hallmarks of champions again on Tuesday night, brushing aside the challenge of title hopefuls St Mary’s on their own turf.
They were 5-2 winners at the Bowl to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season.
The Canada Life Premier League champions were always in control and opened up an early advantage through Sam Caine and the ever impressive Frank Jones.
New signing Mark Wolfenden pulled one back for the hosts but the Geordies’ two-goal lead was soon restored when Callum Morrissey tucked in the rebound after a Ciaran McNulty penalty was saved.
Livewire Steven Priestnal reduced the arrears with a spot-kick of his own but Terry Rigaux - against his former employers - made it 4-2 before the break and St George’s never looked back.
Morrissey netted his second after the break as St George’s finished comfortable winners.
