Local charities launch joint interior makeover prize competition

by isleofman.com 27th August 2014
Two of the Island’s most prominent local charities, Manx Cancer Help and Crossroads Care, have launched a joint tombola draw to win a home or office makeover prize worth ?25,000 from Cubbin & Bregazzi.

Only five thousand tickets, priced at ?5 each, will be available with the draw being made on Friday 19th December at the Cubbin & Bregazzi showroom. The lucky winner of the top prize will be treated to a room makeover by the company’s interior design experts, with support from Bang and Olufsen. The tickets can be bought from Cubbin & Bregazzi, Manx Cancer Help, Mantons Cards in Port Erin and Crossroads' charity shops on Prospect Terrace, Windsor Road and Strand Street.

Manx Cancer Help Chief Executive Officer Andrea Chambers said: ‘We are delighted to be working with Crossroads Care and Cubbin & Bregazzi.  The winner will be able to choose whether their office or home will benefit from the skill of their interior specialists which means the prize is ideal for both businesses and individuals.  The tickets themselves could be a quirky Christmas or birthday gift idea.  This is another great example of how charities can work together, to share our collective expertise, and make a real difference to the lives of people who need our help and support.’

As well as raising vital funds, it’s hoped the joint draw will raise the public’s awareness of the strong links which have been built between the two charities, which ensures that services are not duplicated and clients can access a wide variety of top quality support.

Crossroads Care Chief Executive Officer Jackie Betteridge said: ‘Many of the services offered by the Third Sector are vitally important to our community. While the scope of our remit differs from that of Manx Cancer Help, we often refer our respective clients to the other, for instance, for their psychological service or our care services. We hope that this joined up approach will grow across the whole of the Third Sector.’

David Pickavance from Cubbin & Bregazzi said: ‘We’re really excited to be working with both charities to offer this unique prize. Perhaps you would like to have your bedroom redesigned or maybe you know someone who deserves a makeover in their living room? Or maybe as a business owner you would like to give your staff a social room to be proud of? By buying tickets you’ll be supporting the efforts of two wonderful charities, which give so much to many people in the Island.’
