The Paddy Lincoln Gang - a ‘dark and edgy’ critically acclaimed film about a rock band in Los Angeles is released this week in the USA, Canada, UK and Ireland.
The Paddy Lincoln Gang has been written and produced by Isle of Man-based Alistair Audsley, best known locally as a creative director and marketing consultant, but enjoying a rapid rise in Hollywood as a screenwriter and producer.
Released on demand and to download on August 25th The Paddy Lincoln Gang tells the story of a ‘smoking hot’ Los Angeles rock band on the verge of huge success, and focuses on the troubled lead singer, Rob McAlister (Dean S. Jagger). The cast also includes Stephen Bridgewater (12 Monkeys) and Amy Lawhorn (Gone).
‘Everything’s going insanely well for the band but Rob has some dark demons just waiting to explode’, explains Alistair who, as a screenwriter with a strong commercial sensibility married to a wide knowledge of the music industry, believes in ‘writing about what you know.’
‘That meant that for The Paddy Lincoln Gang I was able to write a film which has a very authentic, almost docu-drama feel to it in places that really speaks to musicians. It’s a film with a unique energy.’
The film – which started life as a short - has been some two years in the making and features Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock in a cameo role. It’s built up a fan base of rock lovers and film fans and achieved critical acclaim, winning Best in Festival at the SoCal (Southern California) Film Festival as well as the coveted Platinum Award at the Oregon Film Awards.
Critics have given the film a warm reception just ahead of its release; In the USA, the highly regarded Forest City Film Review site said: ‘If you like drama and rock and roll served up with a slice of pathos, you will LOVE The Paddy Lincoln Gang. If you aren't so much into rock but you like movies, you will STILL love this film. Don't miss out!’
While Geektown, rating the film 8/10, describe it as ‘A dark and gritty story with a bitter, twisted ending’.
