MGP rider inquest opened and adjourned

A rider who came off during a practice session this week died from multiple injuries, an inquest has heard.
Forty-year-old Stephen McIlvenna from Northern Ireland died in an crash on the Mountain Mile section of the Mountain Road on Tuesday.
He was an experienced rider who first competed in the Manx Grand Prix in 2005, and went on to win the 2009 Junior MGP.
The coroner of inquests, Jayne Hughes, has adjourned the inquiry and released the body for funeral arrangements to be made.
She also passed on her condolences to Mr McIlvenna’s family.
