Results show students coped well with GCSE change

by isleofman.com 22nd August 2014
The Island's 16 year olds have responded well to changes in their GCSE exams.

The overall pass mark this year for grades A* to G is more than 99 per cent, in line with last year's record.

Passes at A* to C also equalled last year's figure, at 69 per cent.

There was a slight fall in the number of entries producing the highests A* and A grades, down from 19.3 per cent to 17.7.

The results mean that students have not suffered unduly from the loss of the modular exam system - whereby youngsters build up to a final grade through a series of exams.

The 'linear' system taught this year focuses on course work at school and final exams.
