Bitcoin ATM for Douglas pub

by isleofman.com 21st August 2014
QwikBit is launching the Isle of Man’s first bitcoin ATM today at a pub in Douglas.
The Thirsty Pigeon’s customers can already buy food and beverages in exchange for bitcoin, so the venue was deemed “an obvious choice” by the company to home the Lamassu machine.
The pub began accepting the digital currency two weeks ago, and bitcoin business is already booming, according to landlord Robert McAleer, who says more and more customers have come to the bar, looking to spend their bitcoins.
The launch of the ATM was previously delayed as QwikBit worked on a software update to address security concerns from local law enforcement.
However, the company’s new update, dubbed Qwik-Screen, is now fully functional.
