Equiom Staff Skydive for Breast Cancer

by isleofman.com 20th August 2014

A team of three Equiom staff have raised an impressive ?1,000 for the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group by parachuting from 12,000 feet.

Sophie Campbell, Will Challoner and Adam Fretwell took their first tandem jumps from a Black Hawk plane on 30th May to raise funds for the charity, whose patron is Equiom Group’s Managing Director, Sheila Dean.

The jumps took place through the Lancaster-based Black Knights parachute centre, which set up a temporary base at the Jurby airfield as part of the Motorfest festival. The centre offers the highest tandem parachute jumps in the UK, enabling participants to reach freefall speeds of up to 120mph.

Sophie Campbell was second to jump.  She commented: “These were the most terrifying but exhilarating moments of my life and I’m absolutely overwhelmed by the amount of money we’ve raised for such a worthy cause.  I’d like to thank the team at Black Hawk for helping me combat my fear of heights and everyone who sponsored us for the jumps.

Julie Stokes is Chairperson of the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group.  She commented:

“How fantastic of Sophie, Will and Adam to do this for our Breast Unit Appeal. We would like to say a massive thank you to them all, well done!!  We would also like take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone at Equiom for their continued support”.
