Regulation of Care Act 2013 – Consultation report published

by isleofman.com 20th August 2014
The Department of Health and Social Care has published a response report following the consultation on the review of Child Day Care Standards under the Regulation of Care Act 2013.

The consultation was completed at the end of April and the Department welcomes the interest shown by child care providers, other organisations and individuals.

Minister for Health and Social Care, Howard Quayle MHK said: “The Department is committed to supporting the welfare and development of all young children on the Isle of Man. There were several contributions made during the consultation which have led the Department to make some changes to the Child Day Care Standards. It is heartening that providers are committed to improving quality in early years care.”

The comments received, and the amendments made, are detailed in the consultation response report published here.

The revised Child Day Care Standards will be available to download on the Government’s website by the end of August.  All registered child day care providers will be sent a copy.

The revised minimum care standards provide clear information to child day care providers to promote continuous improvement in quality and safety in all settings. The Registration and Inspection Team regularly undertake unannounced inspections to centres to ensure compliance with the Act and implementation of care standards.

The care standards will also be of interest to parents detailing information on what baseline quality they can expect when their children attend day care service on the Island.

Anyone requiring clarification or additional information can contact Mr Mark Campbell or Mrs Diana Gordon at the Registration and Inspection Unit on (01624) 642422.
