Grant Thornton recruits four trainee accountants as business grows

Grant Thornton has taken on four trainees as the accountancy and auditing firm’s business in the Isle of Man continues to grow.

Julian Cheetham, Matthew Christian, Chris Kneen, and Sarah Leece have joined the team in the Douglas offices and are all working towards professional accountancy qualifications.

Managing Director Dennis McGurgan said: ‘I am delighted we have been able to create opportunities for four ambitious young people who are focused on successful careers in the accountancy industry with a world-leading company.

‘These appointments, and the recent recruitment of Senior Tax Manager Raj Nandha, are the result of increased demand for our services. Julian, 29, who with Matthew is working towards ACCA qualification, said: ‘I’m looking forward to joining a great team at Grant Thornton, with a lot of friendly faces and high expertise, I’m very happy to have been offered a training position here.’

Matthew, 22, joined Grant Thornton after spending eight months with another Island firm. He said: ‘I am looking forward to working with a wide variety of clients in both the public and private sector, whilst developing my skills and learning from the wealth of knowledge and expertise that Grant Thornton has to offer. I am looking forward to developing my professional career and audit expertise with one of the leading international accountancy firms.’

Chris and Sarah are both studying for ACA qualifications.

Chris, 26, a former senior administrator in Operations at an offshore investment company, said: ‘I am really looking forward to the challenge of becoming a Chartered Accountant, and the invaluable experiences I will learn along the way.’

Sarah, 24, who has previous work experience in the legal industry, added: ‘I am very much looking forward to learning and progressing in such a supportive and growing workplace.’
