Emergency funding from the Isle of Man is supporting the international response to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
 
Thousands of people have been killed, injured or forced to flee their homes since the outbreak of hostilities in July.
 
The International Development Committee of the Council of Ministers is assisting the relief efforts by providing funds to two major charities.
 
Human Appeal International has received ?30,500 to supply food packs, medical kits and medicines to those most at risk.
 
A further ?19,500 has been donated to HelpAge International to provide emergency healthcare and shelter to older men and women in Gaza.
 
The money will be used to distribute mobility aids such as wheelchairs and walking sticks, as well as hygiene kits to households with elderly family members.
 
Phil Gawne MHK, Chairman of the International Development Committee, said: ‘Weeks of conflict have left people in Gaza in desperate need of food, shelter and medical supplies. The Isle of Man is supporting life-saving efforts in the region through its contributions to Human Appeal International and HelpAge International. These charities urgently need funding to deliver emergency aid and our donations will add to those of other nations to help to improve the lives of thousands of vulnerable people.’
