Chance to quiz police over cuts

by isleofman.com 11th August 2014

A public meeting tonight will give people an opportunity to discuss the budget cuts to the police force.

Chief Constable Gary Roberts says a major reorganisation of the force is aimed at maintaining public safety. Two stations are being closed and the number of officers cut by 11 per cent.

Mr Roberts will attend tonight's meeting along with Home Affairs Minister Juan Watterson, and members of the public will be encouraged to share
their views.

The meeting for the eastern district takes place at St Andrew's Church Hall on Glencrutchery Road, Douglas, starting at 7pm. It's the first of a series of meetings. The second is on Thursday at 7pm in the Castletown Civic Centre for the southern area. Meetings for the Northern and Western neighbourhood policing areas will be arranged after the Festival of Motorcycling.
