Island heading in right direction says Rainbow Association

The media officer for a body representing the interests of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community on the Island says an equality bill on the Island is well overdue - but he's very glad to see it.

A major public consultation on new equality laws starts this morning.

Chief Minister Allan Bell has called it one of the most important pieces of social legilslation to be put forward in the Island for some time.

It aims to outlaw discrimination on grounds including disability, age, sex, race, sexual orientation, religion and gender reassignment.

Andrew Dixon of the Rainbow Association says the Island is heading in the right direction:
