The motorcyclist killed in a road traffic collision on Wednesday has been named as 43 year old Ramsey man Neil Walker.

A joiner by trade, he was also a retained firefighter and a well known member of the local community. Mr Walker was married with two children.

Chief fire officer Kevin Groom said: 'I am devastated to lose Neil from this life in such tragic circumstances. He was a truly professional firefighter who had served at Ramsey fire station for over 22 years.

'On behalf of all staff of the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue I send sincere condolences to his wife, children, family and friends at this sad and difficult time. Rest in peace Neil.'

The incident, involving a Volkswagen Golf car, occurred at about 12.30pm on Wednesday at Bulgham Rocks. The road was closed for over five hours while accident investigators examined the scene.
