A fatal accident closed the Laxey to Ramsey coast road for more than five hours today.

A 43 year old man from Ramsey was killed when his Kawasaki motorcycle was involved in a collision with a Volkswagen Golf car. The man has not yet been officially named by police.

The incident occurred at about 12.30pm. The motorist was treated for minor injuries at Noble's Hospital. The car's two passengers were unhurt.

Traffic was diverted via Ballaragh while accident investigators examined the scene. Several witnesses were spoken to by police who have appealed to anyone else who witnessed the incident to get in touch.
