Isle of Man British Heart Foundation Mixed Doubles

Albany members, like those at other clubs on the island supports various charities and last Monday 18 players competed in the annual Isle of Man British Heart Foundation mixed doubles.

Organiser, Jane Gullan is pleased to report that the event raised ?300 for BHF. Club coach Ian Watson was referee, and the weather was perfect.

After two sets of round robin matches the individual winner was Charles Fargher, and runners-up were Graham Bolton and Kath Kermode.

Albany Senior Open Tournament

The Albany Senior Open tournament, which is sponsored as usual by Chrystals Estate Agents, has so far progressed on schedule and the programme of matches should be completed for Saturday’s Finals Day.

Prize presentation will be at approximately 4pm and all competitors whether prize winners or not are invited to come and watch the finals and enjoy afternoon tea.

The prizes will presented by Shane Magee of Chrystals who is also a vice president of the club.

Men’s singles Tableau – 1st round Jonathon Weir bt Callum Watson 6/3 3/6 10-6. Women’s singles r/r Katie Harris bt Sarah Breed 7/5 6/2,Elena Snidal bt Laura Jones 6/0 6/0, Sarah Breed bt Laura Jones  6/1 6/2, Katie Harris bt Elena Snidal 7/6(3) 6/0

Don’t forget that next week sees the start of re-surfacing of the three outdoor courts. Members have been sent official notice regarding the use of the indoor court whilst work is in progress. Any queries please ring 861497.

Tuesday evening and Wednesday and Sunday morning club sessions will continue on the Indoor court.
