Castletown unveils WW1 memorabilia exhibition

by isleofman.com 6th August 2014
A display of World War One memorabilia lent by local residents has opened in Castletown.
The exhibition is the highlight of this year's Castletown Remembers 100 project, to mark the centenary of the outbreak of war.
Items featured range from guns and shell cases to tobacco tins and wartime posters.
The centrepiece is a walk-though battlefield trench showing what life was like for those gunning from behind the sandbags.
The exhibition also features new artwork reflecting the loss suffered by the residents of Queen Street in the town.
