The Joey Dunlop Foundation Annual Memorial Lap of the TT Course approaching fast; on Tuesday 26th August 2014 starting at 18.30.
The Joey Dunlop Foundation (Isle of Man Reg. Charity no 842) provides accessible holiday accommodation at Braddan Bridge for people with special requirements, and since 2nd July 2010 an annual lap of the world famous TT course has been held in memory of Joey.
Due to the success of the first ride out, the charity has held a memorial lap each year on 2nd July, however for 2014 it was agreed to have this event during the Isle of Man Festival of Motorcycling.
Kevin Quirk of the Joey Dunlop Foundation (JDF) said ‘Following the success of the 2010 memorial lap, we were inundated with requests to make this an annual event.
‘Traditionally up to 500 local motorcyclists participate, with the ‘Joey Dunlop Theme‘ at this year’s Festival we agreed to hold the event on Tuesday 26th August 2014 starting from the TT Grandstand at 18.30.
‘I am confident that this event will be an additional attraction for visitors to the island and we are hopeful that we will attract 1000 motorcycles. With several TT aces on the island for the festival, we would like them to participate and you can tell your friends you had a lap of the TT course with a TT rider.
‘We are pleased that the Police Traffic Unit will assist with traffic control and wish to remind all participant’s that the event is on open roads and they must respect all speed restrictions and instructions given to them by the event’s organisers.’
The Charity are currently in the process of raising funds for two more apartments at Braddan Bridge, and as this event is a significant fund raiser in the JDF calendar, they ask each participant to purchase a JDF 2014 T-shirt, Simon Andrews Memorial Lap T-shirt or a JDF Polo shirt.
These items will be available at the charity's retail outlet at the TT Grandstand, or avoid the rush and purchase online at www.joeydunlopfoundation.com.
If you would like to participate in the ride out and raise funds for the charity then please create an account or donation to www.justgiving.com/joeydunlopfoundation.
To ensure that the lap is completed in day light, please arrive at the TT Grandstand Pit lane or Parc Ferme by 18.00.
