Great support for Legion's WW1 commemoration

More than 100 people supported the Manx Royal British Legion's World War One commemoration last night (2 August).
Members of veterans and military groups led by a band re-enacted the march of thousands of young Manx volunteers to their departure point in 1914.
At the end of the parade young Air Cadet, 13 year old Liam Wood handed a wreath to the Captain of the Ben-my-Chree on Victoria Pier.
The tribute was later thrown into the sea during the Ben's evening sailing to Heysham, in memory of Manx servicemen from the forces and merchant navy who lost their lives in the conflict.
Vice Chairman of the Manx Legion Colin Harwood says the event helped cement links between generations:
