by isleofman.com 5th August 2014

Investigations are continuing this morning into the death of a cyclist in a road accident in Kirk Michael.
The female victim, an Island resident, was treated at the scene by paramedics but died from her injuries.
The accident at around 6pm last night (4 August) involved a Range Rover Sport car travelling through the village towards Ballaugh in the same direction as the cyclist, and led to the closure of Main Road in Kirk Michael for almost six hours
Police, fire and ambulance crews descended on Kirk Michael and first aid was offered by a number of local residents.
It's understood the woman was cycling in a party of three along the TT course from Douglas.
The road remained closed until almost midnight while police, scenes of crime officers and DoI inspectors carried out inquiries.
The driver of the Range Rover, a local woman, and a child in the car with her, were not hurt in the accident.
Sergeant Andy Kneen has appealed to anyone who witnessed the accident who has not yet given their details, to come forward.
He has also thanked the many local people who rallied to offer first aid and assist emergency services at the scene, and the travelling public and residents of Michael for their patience during the long road closure.
