Public meeting on flood risk

by isleofman.com 4th August 2014

Castletown MHK Richard Ronan has called a town meeting in a bid to prevent further damage from flooding.

Castletown was one of the worst affected areas during the winter storms and tide surges, when sea defences crumbled and homes flooded.

Mr Ronan said: 'We have had two major flooding events over the past 12 years and, together with Castletown Commissioners, I want to do all that I can to help protect the town from such events in future.'

The meeting will be held this Thursday at 7pm at St Mary's on the Harbour.

Mr Ronan said: 'I have invited the Department of Infrastructure to update us on their progress since the storms. It is important that they and I hear your views and suggestions. The Commissioners and I want to ensure that the needs of Castletown are understood and that action continues to be taken.'
