ODPR: Investigation underway after hack

The Island’s Data Protection Registrar says he’s launched a joint investigation with authorities in Ireland after it emerged a Manx-based egaming giant had been hacked.

Online bookmaker Paddy Power says the personal details of 650,000 customers were stolen in 2010, and a man suspected of trying to sell the database back has been apprehended in Canada.

Iain McDonald of the Manx ODPR says he’s contacted both the company and his Irish counterpart as an inquiry gets underway.

Mr McDonald says those behind the hack had targeted servers based here on the Island:Clip 1
