Tynwaldballs is back!

by isleofman.com 1st August 2014
Due to popular demand by politicians to have all copies destroyed, Southern Befrienders have decided to reprint their popular non-fiction work, Tynwaldballs.  The book, a compilation of political gaffes and mangled metaphors was compiled by Quintin Gill and Juan Watterson, with illustrations by Phil Woodford and extracts from Isle of Man Newspapers.

The first run of 1,000 copies sold out in a few months, raising almost ?8,000 for Southern Befrienders, a charity helping older people live independent lives in their own homes with the help of volunteer befrienders from the local community, many of whom are doing A Levels at Castle Rushen.

Southern Befrienders Treasurer Juan Watterson MHK said, "This book is a guaranteed laugh, with proceeds going to a great cause in the community."

Co-author, Quintin Gill added, "for those people who ask, "Have you made these up?", you have to ask yourself, could we?"

Plans for a second volume are already underway, with material pouring in from the Island's elected representatives and is expected out in late 2015 or 2016.

Books are priced at ?10 and are available from the Manx Museum Shop, Bridge Bookshop Port Erin, or Southern Befrienders office at Thie Rosien, Four Roads, Port Erin.
