It was another great day for Team Isle of Man yesterday with some fantastic performances in the Cycling Time Trials plus Cristen Marritt and Kim Clague playing fantastically well pushing the number 1 seeds from Singapore in their last 16 match in the Badminton Women’s Doubles.
In the Individual Time Trial for women Laura Wasley led off followed by Anna Christian and both gave everything with Anna finishing 14th and Laura 26th. In the men’s event Joe Kelly had to withdraw but Mark Christian and Andrew Roche in his seventh games led the Manx challenge. Both performed fantastically well with Mark finishing 11th and Andy 15th.
Cristen Marritt and Kim Clague were not overawed in their last 16 match against the top seeds in the women’s doubles from Singapore. With their match being screened live on the BBC they put up a tremendous fight showing their ability to compete at this level but eventually lost in two sets.
The only Manx competitor in action today is Keith Gerrard who will be competing in the 10,000 metres at Hampden Park tonight with Team IOM descending on mass to support him.
