Wind farm plans scrapped

A planned huge wind farm off the Welsh coast which had worried the Steam Packet Company won’t be going ahead, it’s been announced.

Energy companies Dong and Centrica have dropped plans for the Rhiannon wind farm, which would have seen 440 turbines in the sea to the Island’s South east.

Then the proposals were announced, the Steam Packet warned ferries might have to make long detours and sailings could be called off in bad weather because of a lack of safe routes.

Steam Packet Chief Executive Mark Woodward says he's relieved the plans have been scrapped:
