Swimmers bow out in semis

There were great efforts in the swimming at the Commonwealth Games as Grant Halsall and Laura Kinley set new Island records to reach the semi-finals.
Halsall swam a time of 54 seconds in qualifying to set a new record in the 100 metres butterfly to finish 13th fastest overall.
He then claimed seventh in his semi-final heat in a time of 54.15.
Meanwhile, Kinley set a time of one minute, 10.90 seconds in the 100 metres breaststroke to seal the final semi-final spot.
In her semi-final, Kinley produced another good showing finishing eighth in 1.10.99.
Earlier on the track, athlete Harriet Pryke finished sixth in her heat (heat four) of the 400 metres in a time of 56.15 seconds at Hampden Park.
