Hopes for medal success in Glasgow

by isleofman.com 26th July 2014
There are real hopes of Manx medal success at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this weekend.

On Saturday, British Cycling Road Race Champion Peter Kennaugh is hoping to make the switch from road to the track cycling discipline.

He goes in the Points Race with Delhi bronze medallist Mark Christian - qualifying is early this afternoon at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome with the Final starting at 6.26pm.

Kennaugh didn't race in the Individual 4000m Individual Pursuit on Friday as it was felt his season on the roads with Team Sky would be better suited to the endurance events on the track.

On Sunday, Kennaugh rides in the Scratch Race with either Mark Christian or Joe Kelly.

And hopes are high for shooting glory on Sunday at Carnoustie.

World Record holder Tim Kneale along with Jake Keeling are in action in the Double Trap.

Tim Kneale won a bronze medal in the discipline four years ago at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
