DOI hopes to boost image of civil engineering

by isleofman.com 22nd July 2014

The Department of Infrastructure is hoping to boost the image of civil engineering with a new campaign.
It's a nationwide initiative to raise public awareness and encourage more people to consider a career in the industry.
There will be banners at sites around the Island saying "This is Civil Engineering", as there is little understanding about exactly what it is.
DOI Construction Manager Gary Saunders says every time we turn on a tap, switch on a light or flush a toilet, we are benefiting from civil engineering.
He says the department is well placed to support young people who think it might be the job for them.
