Microgaming Marathon & Half Marathon just 1 month away

Microgaming is urging athletes to enter the 2014 Isle of Man Marathon and Half Marathon before it’s too late! Entries close 31st July.

The 2014 Microgaming Isle of Man Marathon and Half Marathon takes place Sunday 10th August, and this year’s event promises to be the biggest and best to date! So far, over 90 have entered the Marathon and 220 have entered the Half.

The event is highly popular with the local sporting community but it also entices participants from around the globe, including Europe, the US and South Africa. Recommended by many, this year the race has even attracted a writer from Runner’s World, the UK’s largest running magazine, to partake; they will be covering the event in their publication.

Held in Ramsey, the race commences on the Promenade and finishes in the Ballacloan Football Stadium. The course, which is well-known for its picturesque views, is flat to undulating, and made up of two laps. Those taking part in the Half event will complete 13.1 miles (one lap) whilst those taking part in the Full Marathon will run a total of 26.2 miles (two laps).

Colin Watterson, Chairman of Isle of Man Veteran Athletes’ Club, comments: “The preparation for the 2014 event is going very well and we’re really excited that the race is only a month away. For anyone who is yet to enter, I urge you to complete your entry form. It’s going to be a brilliant day, so make sure you don’t miss out!”

Athletes can enter at www.isleofmanmarathon.com. Entry fees are ?23.40 for affiliated members and ?29.25 for non-affiliated members; all participants will be given a medal, goodie bag and of course the ever-popular buffet on the day!
