by isleofman.com 11th July 2014

Age Isle of Man is very pleased to announce that Helen Southworth has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the local charity following the imminent retirement of George Quayle.

Helen was CEO of Age Concern St Helens for 10 years before she became a Member of Parliament in the North West of England, a role she undertook successfully for 13 years before she stepped down in 2010.

Helen has worked with older people to provide day care services, advice surgeries and leisure services and also received a national award in the UK for her work in protecting vulnerable children.

George Quayle said:

“I am delighted that Helen has been appointed to succeed me and I am sure her extensive experience working with older people will enable her to fulfil this role admirably and that Age Isle of Man will continue to flourish under her leadership.

He added:

“Whilst I am in some ways sorry to be leaving, I am very confident that Helen will ensure that the Charity continues to provide excellent services for older people on this Island.”

Helen will take up her new role on Monday 14th July.
