Archer Lesley Sleight to represent Great Britain in Estonia

by isleofman.com 8th July 2014
Triple British Record holder Lesley Sleight has been selected to represent Great Britain in the World Archery European 3D Championships. The Championships are taking place in Tallinn, Estonia from 15th – 20th September. This will be the first time Lesley has competed for Great Britain and she will shoot in the Ladies Longbow event. Six British archers have been selected to compete in the Championships.

Lesley will be self-funding the trip herself as there is little money available, even at GB level. Lesley has also just returned from competing for England in the European Bowhunter Championships where she finished in 7th place. Competing at an International Level can be very costly. Lesley asks If anybody company would like to help sponsor her she would be willing to offer corporate archery sessions in return.

Ms. Sue Moore Head teacher at Queen Elizabeth II High School kindly presented Archery GB UK record certificates to Lesley after she broke two of her own British records. . Lesley’s Ladies FITA combined record for the American Flatbow now scores higher points than the Men’s American Flatbow record, which is a great achievement.Lesley would like to thank both the school and Department of Education for allowing her  time off to compete for Great Britain.

Lesley would also like to thank Martin Brunnschweiller for enabling Bowderyn Vannin Archery Club to use the Bushy's Brewery Glen for training and competitions.
