Launch of Energy Awards 2014

by isleofman.com 8th July 2014

Local organisations of all sizes are being encouraged to submit entries for the 2014 Energy Awards, which are now open to submissions. Winners will be announced at the 2014 Energy Expo being held in August as part of the Royal Manx Agricultural Show.

Graham Cregeen MHK, the Department Member with responsibility for Energy commented:

‘The Department is committed to helping minimise the impact of our energy use on the environment and as outlined in the Vision 2020 strategy, ensure the Island’s energy policy is sustainable for future generations.

‘These awards highlight excellent examples of energy saving initiatives that are being implemented across the Island. They also enable recognition of the Island’s Energy Champions and I hope this will encourage local organisations to consider potential energy saving opportunities.’

Dr Ken Milne, Senior Manager for Energy Policy, Department of Economic Development added:

‘We would like to hear from any local organisation which has made significant energy savings over the course of the past year as a result of measures they have taken to make them more energy efficient. The Award categories are Biggest Energy Saving; Most Innovative Project; and Best Practice. ’

Organisations wishing to submit an entry for the Energy Awards should visit www.gov.im/media/364499/energy_awards_application_form.pdf  to download an entry form or alternatively telephone 01624 682367.

Any organisation wanting to nominate an individual to receive energy efficiency training to become an Energy Champion should visit www.gov.im/ded/energy/energychampionshome.xml or telephone 01624 682367.
