Island ranked eighth world's richest nation

by isleofman.com 9th June 2014
The Isle of Man is the eighth wealthiest nation per capita in the world.
That's according to an article on an online financial website.
The Daily Mail's This is Money.co.uk claims the Island - which they point out is only slightly larger than Hertfordshire - has been growing its economy continuously for 30 years and it's expected to increase by three to four per cent this year.
The article goes on to say Island is now boosting its efforts to encourage entrepreneurs to relocate or partner businesses on the Island with a marketing campaign being launched to attract business people here instead of Jersey and Guernsey.
DED Minister John Shimmin is quoted as saying one of the Island's biggest weaknesses is that we are not as well-known as some of our competing jurisdictions.
Chief Executive of Manx Telecom Mike Dee points out that while people say the Isle of Man is a finance sector, that makes up 30 per cent or less of the economy.
