The Isle of Man Branch of The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) will hold a free rebranding master class on Tuesday 17 June. The speaker for the event is David Smith, Marketing Director for Manx Telecom.
David has worked for a number of telecoms companies across the globe and has been heavily involved in managing some notable national and international brand identities. David came to the Isle of Man in 2011 to join Manx Telecom and set about repositioning and rejuvenating the Manx Telecom brand, the most noticeable element of which was its new logo and visuals.
Daren Ward, Chair of the Isle of Man Branch said: “Generally when you say branding the public think about logos – and whilst a logo is an important element of a brand – branding is much more than logos, colours and fonts. It’s about the DNA of an organisation and its promise to customers. Branding is becoming ever more important and can easily make or break businesses, so it’s an area marketers need to be familiar with.”
Daren continued “David has a wealth of experience in managing national and international brands, and his presentation will give the Island’s marketers a great opportunity to hear more about these experiences and observations, in person. Manx Telecom is undoubtedly one of the most recognisable brands on the Island and it’s rebranding of the business in 2011 was a major undertaking. That Isle of Man angle in addition to David’s international experience, will allow local marketers to learn about brands, in a variety of contexts.”
The event takes place at the Villa Marina Arcade on Tuesday 17 June with registration commencing at 8.30 am with the master class starting at 9.00 am and lasting for one hour. The event is free for both CIM members and non-CIM members and includes tea, coffee and pastries, but registration is required. Those interested in booking a place should complete the online form at
