Standard Bank bake their cake and eat it – all for charity

by isleofman.com 3rd June 2014

Standard Bank staff in the Isle of Man recently held a series of fundraising events for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, and have handed over a cheque to Derek Patience, Chairman of the Isle of Man branch of the charity for ?607.

Laura Lewandowskyj is one of the Standard Bank fundraising committee organisers: ‘Staff really pulled out the stops, there was a dress down day, but the highlight was our cake sale event.  We had a huge array of cakes brought in by staff, and there was a quiz, a photo caption competition, and several members of staff volunteered to see how many marshmallows, jaffa cakes and sour sweets they could fit into their mouths at once – 22 was the record.’

CEO of Standard Bank, IOM, John Coyle said ‘I was delighted that our staff were able to hold this fundraiser for the IOM MS Society.  I’d like to thank all the staff for supporting this very valuable charity in our local community.  I’d also like to thank whoever baked the delicious chocolate cake which I was required to sample during the course of the day!’

The Isle of Man Multiple Sclerosis Society supports those with Multiple Sclerosis and their carers, throughout the island.  As well as responding to requests to purchase specialist equipment, the society holds specialist exercise classes, and provides physical and emotional support.
