by isleofman.com 19th May 2014
In the Standard Bank Premiership on Sunday there were wins for Castletown and Valkyres while Ramsey conceded their match against Peel and St Johns.
The Town made 148 for 8 against champions Cronkbourne with Richard Corke hitting 28 and Mark Williams 27.
In reply the Tromode side got away to a good start, but were then rocked by Williams taking five for 26 to put Castletown on top.
Adam Killey led a revival and Cronkbourne were in sight of victory when he fell lbw to Scott Weaver for 35.
The Tromode team fell just eight runs short, but with their last two batsmen still at the wicket.
Valkyres notched their first Premiership win of the season with a convincing display at Marown.
Crosby made a poor start and struggled to 48 for 5.
Then Martyn Oates and Harry Rothwell had a stand of 84 to turn the tables.
Crosby finished on 170 with Ryan Windell and Chris Nash each taking four wickets.
Valkyres lost an early wicket, but then good stroke play took the game away from Crosby.
Mark Furness cracked 63 as the Douglas team advanced towards their target.
Dave Picken claimed three wickets, but it was not enough to prevent Valkyres easing home by five wickets.
